Give 'til It Helps!

We've got a lot to be thankful for - we have a wonderful life that is filled doing the things we love with wonderful creatures that depend on us and also reward us with more love and devotion than we could ever ask for. There are some things in the world that also need help, and we try to give as much support as we can.

Here are a few of the organizations and causes we help with their work  through both contributions and outreach. Take a look at their efforts and see if you are able to help out as well.

Founded in 1989, the Trust works to conserve parrots in their natural habitat and advocate for their welfare in captivity. With an estimated 50 million pet parrots and over 100 species threatened or endangered in the wild, they have a lot of work to do.

The National Zoo’s 163-acre park in the heart of Washington, D.C., is home to 2,000 animals representing nearly 400 species. Over 3 million people visit the National Zoo each year, which is open at no charge to anyone who comes through the gates.

The National Zoo was one of the first zoos to establish a scientific research program. Today, the Zoo’s scientists study animals both in the wild and at the Zoo. Their research encompasses reproductive biology, conservation biology, biodiversity monitoring, veterinary medicine, nutrition, behavior, ecology and bird migration.

Nearly half the funds needed to operate the park, care for the animals, and continue the research efforts are provided by private donations.

Take a look at the Bird Friendly Coffee program. Is your favorite barista participating? Remember - Parrots are birds, too... Get Friendly!

Smithsonian

The Smithsonian Institution is a museum and research complex of 19 museums and galleries and the National Zoological Park, as well as research facilities. Over 20 million people come each year to see the many collections on display of the over 137 million specimens and artifact under the Institutions' control.

The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior. Companies, cooperatives and landowners that participate in their programs meet rigorous standards that conserve biodiversity and provide sustainable livelihoods.
